“Introduction to Early Childhood Education” Field Trip

Students of “Introduction to Early Childhood Education” (ECE 201-ECEP101) course have visited the classrooms of Dilan Özdemir and İlkay Can, early childhood educators in Toki Göksu Kindergarten. Through visiting their classrooms, students get the opportunity to gather information on the project “Bir Sınıf Hayal Ettik”, see the reflections of various models and approaches on learning environments in ECE context, learning centers, working systems and material usage in learning centers, classroom routines and more. While learning about the project “Bir Sınıf Hayal Ettik”, Dilan and İlkay teachers shared the story of transformation acts of other early childhood teachers spreaded around the Turkey who inspired from the project and started to transform their classrooms into learning environments that are natural, pure, simple and put the child at the center of learning. Teacher candidates TEDU Early Childhood Education Program enriched their knowledge by seeing the examples of classes in which other teachers, working in disadvantaged areas, transform materials, equipments in use within the scope of the project and created simple and spacious places for children. We appreciate the administration of Toki Göksu Kindergarten, Dilan and İlkay teachers for their time and sharing with us. They provided the inspiration for our early childhood teacher candidates.
