1. What score type does the Preschool Teaching Program accept students?
TEDU Faculty of Education Preschool Teaching Undergraduate Program accepts students based on verbal score type as of 2018-2019 academic year.
2. How many years is the Preschool Teaching Program undergraduate education?
Preschool Teaching undergraduate education is planned to last 4 years (8 semesters) (following English preparatory education).
3. Can Preschool Teaching Program students do minor and double major?
If Preschool Teaching Program students meet the necessary conditions determined by the university, they can enroll in minor and double major programs of different departments within the Faculty of Education. Within this scope, if a student studying in the Preschool Teaching Program is accepted, they can complete certain courses in English Language Teaching, Primary Mathematics Teaching, Classroom Teaching, Guidance and Psychology Counseling programs and do double major or minor.
4. How did the distance education process at TED University Faculty of Education work during the pandemic? Was education interrupted? How were the exams conducted?
During the pandemic that affected our country and the whole world in the spring semester of the 2019-2020 academic year, all courses at TED University continued without interruption with synchronous distance education. In this context, our Faculty also conducted all 185 courses (including applied courses) it opened in the spring semester of the 2019-2020 academic year with synchronous distance education. Faculty members and students have shown success in adapting to the process in a short time. During the process, there were no technical problems in terms of the presentation of the educational service and access by students. The University provided the tools of students who needed technical tools such as tablets, etc. The midterm and final exams were conducted with methods such as in-class studies, projects, and group studies in accordance with student-centered education. 5. In the YKS Higher Education Programs and Quotas Guide, it says that the program is accredited opposite the TED University Faculty of Education Preschool Teaching Program. What does it mean to be accredited?
Accreditation means providing a service in accordance with predetermined standards in a field. Accreditation in higher education means that the education provided by the programs is above the determined standards. TED University is a university that has had a quality document since its establishment and has put this quality document into practice in its operations. Accreditation processes are supported and encouraged in our university and faculty.
TED University Preschool Teaching, Classroom Teaching and Guidance and Psychological Counseling Programs have been evaluated by the Education Faculties Education Programs Evaluation and Accreditation Association (EPDAD), authorized by the Higher Education Quality Board (YÖKAK), and have earned the right to receive the accreditation document.
6. I am concerned that the education process will consist of only theoretical knowledge while preparing for my profession. What kind of application opportunities are there in the TED University Faculty of Education Preschool Teaching Program?
TED University is a university based on an education-oriented and student-centered learning approach in accordance with its founding principles. In this context, the Faculty of Education Preschool Teaching Program is a faculty that focuses on students and gives importance to practice. From this perspective, it provides students with many application opportunities both in and outside the classroom while preparing them for their professional lives. There are classrooms with different features within our university so that the courses can be conducted with an emphasis on practice. In addition, there is a Preschool Application Laboratory and a Pedagogy Laboratory designed for this purpose in our Faculty. Apart from this, the content of the courses conducted in the programs is designed to focus on practice.
In addition, the Teaching Practice courses in the programs are courses that we attach great importance to and focus on meticulously. In these courses and other courses with an emphasis on practice, it is aimed for our students to experience different school environments (public school, private school, etc.) in order to prepare them for their professional lives in the best way. TED Ankara College is also among the practice schools that we work closely with. Many plans and collaborations are made to ensure that our students are in schools outside of class and thus increase their experiences.
7. Sometimes getting an English education scares me and I don't know how it will contribute to me in the future. What are the contributions of getting an English education in the Preschool Teaching Program to me?
TEDU's other faculties and all programs of the Faculty of Education are taught 100% in English. After registering for the programs they are accepted to, our students take the exam held by the English Language School and start either the undergraduate program or the preparatory class according to their proficiency. With the qualified English education offered at the English Language School, they gain the ability to follow all kinds of publications related to their courses, actively participate in seminars and discussions, fulfill the written and oral requirements of the courses and communicate in English necessary in social life.
First of all, distinguished educational institutions are increasingly looking for teachers who speak English. This search provides an advantage for graduates of faculties of education that teach English in transitioning to business life. On the other hand, teacher candidates who speak English, teacher candidates who receive English education at the Faculty of Education, gain the ability to access scientific studies conducted in their fields and follow these studies thanks to the education they receive. Teacher candidates who acquire the habit of lifelong learning during the education process thus have the chance to apply current studies in their professional lives.
Teacher candidates who receive English education easily adapt to the process when they want to continue their education abroad after graduation or when they find a job opportunity abroad. In addition, they can continue their education abroad for a certain period of time or create different internship opportunities for themselves with the ERASMUS+ program during their undergraduate education.
If our students who graduate from our faculty want to continue their education with postgraduate programs, they are prepared for this process in terms of English.
8. I want to go abroad with the ERASMUS program. What are the opportunities you provide to your students in this regard?
Since the language of instruction is English, our students can easily participate in the ERASMUS program and gain experience abroad for a part of their education. Especially our students who continue in the Preschool Teaching Program have the opportunity to do summer internships not only during the semester but also in the summer months. Our students have the opportunity to participate in the ERASMUS program at universities with which we have agreements in many European countries. Our faculty's International Cooperation Committee continues its work intensively to increase the number of cooperations and to provide our students with more international experience.
9. How do you support me regarding the difficulties I encounter during my education, career issues, course selection, etc.? Will there be someone to support me in this regard?
Academic advising is considered important by faculty members in all programs within the Faculty of Education and is carried out with great effort. In other words, our students walk together with their academic advisors during the education process. Our students determine the courses they want to take from the first semester they start their education with the support of their advisor faculty members. In this process, it is aimed not only to determine the courses to be taken during the semester, but also to inform our students about the regulations in effect, to guide our students who want to do a double major or minor, and to prepare them for business life after graduation. In addition, students who want to do postgraduate education are provided with the information they need during the process, and students are supported and encouraged in matters related to their careers. Thus, academic advising is a tool that supports students in determining their careers.
