Teaching and Learning
The Early Childhood Education Program, located under the Primary Education Department of TED University Faculty of Education, has been updated based on the regulation made by the Council of Higher Education in 2018. The courses in the updated curriculum consist of three groups: Teaching Professional Knowledge (MB), Field Education (AE) and General Knowledge (GK) courses. In the program, Teaching Professional Knowledge (MB) courses were included in 35%, General Culture (GK) courses were included in 19%, and Field Education (AE) courses were included in 46%. Students in the program complete a total course load of 141 credits in 4 years. Students who complete the program gain knowledge, skills, and competencies in general culture areas based on the liberal education approach, as well as classroom teacher education pedagogy and content knowledge.
With its Early Childhood Education Application Laboratory and Pedagogy Laboratory, the TEDU Program of ECE offers an environment where teacher candidates can acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors. Teaching practices are carried out at TED Ankara College, foundation kindergartens affiliated with the Ministry of Education, independent official kindergartens, or bilingual kindergartens, under the supervision of faculty members of the department and the application coordinator and in cooperation with mentor teachers.
In addition to providing professional knowledge and skills in their field, it is aimed to train teacher candidates to be socially, culturally, and intellectually well-equipped and have a developed personality. With the blend of professional knowledge, field education, and general culture courses, teacher candidates need to have the qualifications of being a technologically literate, researcher teacher who knows universal, national, and local cultures, is a role model in terms of cultural, ethical, moral values and personality.
