In the PECE 204 – Early Childhood Mathematics Education course, conducted by Dr. Fatma Yalçın from the Department of Early Childhood Education at TED University, the course content has been enriched this year to support pre-service teachers’ professional development and enhance their competencies in developmentally appropriate technology use. In this context, augmented and virtual reality applications, as well as the use of 3D printers, were integrated into the course.

As part of the course, a practical introduction to 3D printing was delivered to second-year students by research assistant Elif Naz Altaş Kuşhan, who also serves as the course assistant, together with research assistants Berk Gümüş and Sevim Berhiv Acay. During this session, students gained hands-on experience in designing instructional materials using 3D printers.

In addition, fourth-year student Buğra Çiftci from the Department of Early Childhood Education shared his experiences of implementing augmented and virtual reality-based mathematics activities with preschool children as part of his teaching practicum. He also discussed the advantages and limitations of using these applications in classroom settings based on his own practice.

Furthermore, the Delightex Edu platform, which enables pre-service teachers to design augmented and virtual reality experiences, was introduced to the students through hands-on activities.
