As part of the PECE 401 – Teaching Practice I course, conducted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çağla Öneren Şendil, Assist. Prof. Dr. Funda Eda Tonga Çabuk, and Lecturer Dr. Melike Kandemir, Dr. Funda Alptekin, a faculty member in the Department of Mathematics and Science Education at TED University, participated as a guest speaker. We extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Alptekin for her valuable contributions to our course.
Our faculty members from the TED University Early Childhood Education Program had an active role in the TÜBİTAK 4004 "Think, Play, Act for Climate Change" project, which took place at Middle East Technical University from September 1-5, 2025, and was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Buldu.
As part of the project:
• Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çağla Öneren Şendil delivered a training session titled "Evaluation in Climate Change Education" to preschool teachers.
Our faculty member, Dr. Funda Eda Tonga Çabuk, from the Department of Early Childhood Education at TED University, has been selected to present her doctoral research as a “good practice” at the 20th Good Practices in Education Conference.
Her design-based, original, and field-contributing study will be presented as an oral presentation during the event. We are proud to see our faculty represented at this prestigious platform where innovative educational practices are shared.
On May 9, 2025, Tuğba Hazal Koçak, a preschool teacher at TED Ankara College, was invited as a guest speaker for the PECE302 course titled “Classroom Management in Early Childhood Education,” conducted by Lecturer Dr. Melike Kandemir and assisted by Hamide Nur Şimşekoğlu . Our guest shared examples of effective classroom management practices with the pre-service teachers enrolled in the course, shared her teaching experiences, and conveyed her insights and experiences on how theory and practice can be integrated in the field of classroom management.
On May 9, 2025, Ecem Ezki, who works in the field of creative dance, was invited as a guest speaker for the PECE404 course titled “Music Education in Early Childhood,” conducted by Lecturer Dr. Melike Kandemir. Our guest led a creative dance workshop with the pre-service teachers enrolled in the course. In this workshop, which involved the use of the body and various materials, the teacher candidates gained a new perspective on the use of dance in music education.We sincerely thank Ecem Ezki for her valuable contributions.
Res. Asst. Tuba Özgül Torun participated as a guest speaker in the PECE 515 - Information and Communication Technologies in Early Childhood graduate course conducted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Adile Gülşah Saranlı. In the course, theoretical and practical examples were shared with students on the use of artificial intelligence in the context of supporting early literacy and language development in early childhood education. We sincerely thank her for her valuable contributions.
In the scope of the Early Childhood Education Master's Program, the graduate course of "PECE 515-Information and Communication Technologies in Early Childhood" is conducted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Adile Gülşah Saranlı, Mr. Erdener Emin Eker was our guest in the Machine Learning Principles subject.
On May 2, 2025, as part of the PECE404 “Music Education in Early Childhood” course conducted by Lecturer Dr. Melike Kandemir, our graduate Şevval Hepşen, who currently works as a preschool teacher at TAD Cinnah Preschool, was invited as a guest speaker. Our guest led a music workshop with the teacher candidates enrolled in the course, focusing on in-class music education practices. During the workshop, the teacher candidates gained a new perspective on music education and learned rhythm activities that they can implement with different age groups in the preschool period.
Our 4th-year students from the Department of Early Childhood Education at TED University — Başak Kadimoğulları Kalkan, Şevval Gültekin, Zeynep Ebrar Olcay, and Ayşe Berfin Akca —visited TED İzmir College on April 28–29–30, 2025, as part of the TED Ambassadors Project, a collaborative initiative between the Turkish Education Association and TED University.
As part of the TED Ambassador Project, coordinated by Dr. Melike Kandemir for students of the Early Childhood Education Program, a pre-visit preparation meeting was held in anticipation of their upcoming visit to TED İzmir College. During the meeting, the prospective teachers met with department head Yağmur Demir, asked questions regarding the project process, and worked on detailed planning ahead of the visit.
