TED University Department of Early Childhood Education faculty members Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çağla Öneren Şendil, Assist. Prof. Dr. Lecturer Fatma Yalçın, Assist. Prof. Dr. Funda Eda Tonga Çabuk, and Research Assistant Elif Naz Altaş Kuşhan participated in the 9th International Early Childhood Education Congress hosted by Bursa Uludağ University between October 27-30, 2025, and shared their current research and projects.
At the congress, three presentations were given by faculty members of the TEDU Early Childhood Education Department:
Research Assistant H.Nur Şimşekoğlu conducted a session on “Teaching and the Environment” as part of the PECE 301 – Instructional Principles and Methods in Early Childhood Education course led by Dr. Melike Kandemir.
Throughout the session, pre-service teachers discussed the role of learning environments in instructional processes, the impact of environmental arrangement.
TED Ambassador (School Experience Program) will open its Fall 2025 applications on Monday, November 3rd. To provide detailed information about the project and to hear first-hand experiences from past participants, an online information session will be held on Monday, November 3rd at 3:00 PM (Istanbul time) via Zoom. During the meeting, all details about the project process, eligibility criteria, and application procedures will be shared.
As part of TED University's Orientation Day, held on September 19, 2025, we met with our new students. The program began with an opening speech by Prof. Dr. Kürşat Çağıltay, Dean of the Faculty of Education, and continued with remarks by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çağla Öneren Şendil, Head of the Department of Basic Education and Preschool Education. At the end of the program, all faculty members and staff members had the opportunity to meet with our students and answer their questions.
This semester, our senior pre-service teachers have commenced their practicum as part of the PECE 401 - Teaching Practice I course, conducted under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çağla Öneren Şendil, Assist. Prof. Dr. Funda Eda Tonga Çabuk and Lecturer Dr. Melike Kandemir. Following the introductory and orientation meetings held with school administrators and mentor teachers at TOKİ Göksu Kindergarten, Atatürk Kindergarten, and Mehmet Meto Kindergarten, the practicum process has officially begun.
Pursuing a Master’s Degree in Finland: A Conversation with Suad Ahmed Mohamed
As part of the PECE 401 – Teaching Practice I course, conducted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çağla Öneren Şendil, Assist. Prof. Dr. Funda Eda Tonga Çabuk, and Lecturer Dr. Melike Kandemir, Dr. Funda Alptekin, a faculty member in the Department of Mathematics and Science Education at TED University, participated as a guest speaker. We extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Alptekin for her valuable contributions to our course.
Our faculty members from the TED University Early Childhood Education Program had an active role in the TÜBİTAK 4004 "Think, Play, Act for Climate Change" project, which took place at Middle East Technical University from September 1-5, 2025, and was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Buldu.
As part of the project:
• Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çağla Öneren Şendil delivered a training session titled "Evaluation in Climate Change Education" to preschool teachers.
Our faculty member, Dr. Funda Eda Tonga Çabuk, from the Department of Early Childhood Education at TED University, has been selected to present her doctoral research as a “good practice” at the 20th Good Practices in Education Conference.
Her design-based, original, and field-contributing study will be presented as an oral presentation during the event. We are proud to see our faculty represented at this prestigious platform where innovative educational practices are shared.
On May 9, 2025, Tuğba Hazal Koçak, a preschool teacher at TED Ankara College, was invited as a guest speaker for the PECE302 course titled “Classroom Management in Early Childhood Education,” conducted by Lecturer Dr. Melike Kandemir and assisted by Hamide Nur Şimşekoğlu . Our guest shared examples of effective classroom management practices with the pre-service teachers enrolled in the course, shared her teaching experiences, and conveyed her insights and experiences on how theory and practice can be integrated in the field of classroom management.
