The second teacher training for preschool teachers working at TED Schools across Turkey was held online on March 22, 2025. The training program titled “Education in Outdoor Learning Centers, Organization of Centers, and the Role of the Teacher” by TED University Assistant Professor Dr. Fatma Yalçın focused on practices supporting the nature-based learning approach.
Prof. Dr. Aysel Köksal Akyol, a faculty member of the Ankara University Child Development Department, participated as a guest in the PECE406 “Visual Art Education and Material Development in Early Childhood” course conducted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sühendan Er. We want to thank our instructor for her valuable contribution to our course.
The information and experience-sharing meeting of the TED Ambassador Project, coordinated by Dr. Melike Kandemir for the Early Childhood Education Department, will be held tonight at 9:00 PM on Zoom. Information about the project will be provided in the meeting, and the application requirements will be explained. Additionally, our pre-service teachers Azra İrem Okvuran, Gökçen Ekmen, and Merve Bayram, who visited TED Trabzon College last semester as part of the project, will share their experiences.
Our research assistant, Tuba Özgül-Torun, has been awarded a scholarship under the ERASMUS+ Doctoral Internship Program at METU and will carry out academic research at Lusófona University in Lisbon, Portugal, in July 2025. During the one-month internship, she will focus on digital applications with children and families in early childhood education under the academic guidance of Prof. Dr. Ana Jorge, who has made significant contributions in this field.
The article by TED University Preschool Education Department Research Assistants Elif Naz Altaş and Tuba Özgül-Torun titled "Unlocking Cultural Treasures: Viewpoints of Preschool Teachers Working with Refugee Children on Funds of Knowledge" has been published in the International Journal of Multicultural Education, which is in the ESCI-Q1 index category.
Our research assistant, Elif Naz Altaş, has been accepted to the EERA Summer School 2025, which will be held at Chemnitz University of Technology in Germany from June 2-6, 2025.
Elif Naz Altaş, a Research Assistant at the Department of Early Childhood Education at TED University, has published her article titled "Philanthropic Tendency Scale for Teachers" in Psychology in the Schools, a journal indexed in SSCI-Q3. The article explores the process of developing a scale to measure teachers' philanthropic tendencies.
This semester, our first-year pre-service teachers have begun their observations as part of the PECE 402 – School Experience I course, taught by Dr. Melike Kandemir and Dr. Funda Eda Tonga Çabuk. Following introductory and informational meetings with school administrators and teachers at TED Ankara College, they have now embarked on their observation process.

Our guest shared the rhythm activities in early childhood with the prospective teachers taking the course. We thank her for her valuable contribution to our course.
