In the PECE 204-Early Childhood Math Education course, future preschool teachers designed innovative math activities using augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and 3D design technologies to teach early math!

As part of the PECE 204 – Mathematics Education in Early Childhood course offered in the Department of Early Childhood Education at TED University Faculty of Education, preservice teachers engaged in an innovative learning experience during the Spring 2026 semester by integrating Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and 3D design technologies into early mathematics education.

An end-of-term evaluation meeting for the Spring 2026 semester was held with the participation of Faculty School Commission Member Asst. Prof. Dr. Fatma Yalçın and the faculty members teaching PECE 402 Teaching Practice II: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çağla Öneren Şendil, Asst. Prof. Dr. Funda Eda Tonga Çabuk, and Lecturer Dr. Melike Kandemir. Research assistants Elif Naz Altaş, Tuba Özgül Torun and Nur Şimşekoğlu, who assisted the course, also attended the meeting.

Research Assistant Tuba Özgül-Torun has been accepted to the University of Milano-Bicocca within the scope of the ERASMUS+ Doctoral Internship Program!

Our research assistant, Tuba Özgül-Torun, was awarded a grant under the ERASMUS+ Doctoral Internship Program at METU and conducted academic research at the University of Milano-Bicocca in Italy in September 2023.

Our students have completed two projects under the OMEP umbrella: the Experience Network and the Play in the Street Projects!

The International Organization for Early Childhood Education (OMEP) is an international non-governmental organization that aims to improve the quality of early childhood education in more than 70 countries. At our university, there is a committee formed by our preschool teacher training students under the guidance of Dr. Fatma Yalçın. The comprehensive education our students receive at our faculty prepares them for the theoretical foundation of preschool education. OMEP, on the other hand, offers our students the opportunity to experience and develop this knowledge in the field.

Research Assistant Tuba Özgül Torun has been accepted to the CAPTED Research Center Winter School program in Milan, Italy!

Research Assistant Tuba Özgül Torun participated in the CAPTED Research Center Winter School, hosted by the University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy, from 26 to 30 January 2026. The Winter School, entitled Media Ecologies and the Politics of Representation: Methodological Opportunities and Challenges for Socio-Educational Research with Communities at Risk of Invisibility, brought together international researchers to explore digital media ecologies and contemporary digital research methodologies.

Our Research Assistant Tuba Özgül Torun has been accepted to the SUSEES-2025 Summer School in Lisbon, Portugal!

Res. Asst. Tuba Özgül Torun has been accepted to the Summer School on European Education Studies 2025 (SUSEES-2025) program, which will be hosted by the Institute of Education of the University of Lisbon, Portugal, between June 23-26, 2025.

This program, organized by the European Educational Research Association (EERA) for international doctoral students, includes interactive laboratory sessions where participants will work together to develop research projects, academic writing workshops, and courses focusing on the public sociology of educational technologies.

TEDU-LAD Project has been awarded!

The project titled “Supporting Social Interaction in Early Childhood with Mindfulness-Based Activities,” developed by Early Childhood Education students Bilgenur Oğuz, Elif Fidan, Rumeysa Bozkurt (team leader), and Zehra Kaplan under the academic supervision of Assist. Prof. Dr. Funda Eda Tonga Çabuk, has been awarded support under the TEDU Undergraduate Students Scientific Research Support Program (TEDU-LAD). The project aims to support children’s social interactions in early childhood through mindfulness-based activities.

Students in our Early Childhood Education Master's Program presented their thesis proposals as part of the PECE 591 Pre-Thesis Seminar course. Throughout the presentations, students had the opportunity to receive feedback from different perspectives and gain valuable suggestions for further developing their research. Our student achieves TÜBİTAK 2209-A success!

Our student Eylül Çoban, a double major in Early Childhood Education and Psychological Counseling and Guidance Programs, has been awarded funding for her project, prepared under the supervision of Dr. Fatma Yalçın, within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 2209-A University Students Research Projects Support Program. The project topic is: Examining the effect of integrated orienteering training with nature and forest pedagogy on the spatial orientation skills of 6-year-old children from low socio-economic backgrounds.

Guest Speaker in PECE 106 Course: Dr. Gökhan Karaosmanoğlu

On April 30, 2026, Dr. Gökhan Karaosmanoğlu was a guest in the PECE106 “Drama in Early Childhood Education” course, instructed by Dr. Melike Kandemir. As part of the course, our guest conducted a three-hour process drama workshop, providing our pre-service teachers with an experiential learning opportunity on what process drama is and how it can be used in early childhood education. Through this workshop, our students had the opportunity to learn by experiencing process drama. We would like to thank Dr. Gökhan Karaosmanoğlu for his valuable contributions and insights.
