ECE 311 Early Childhood Mathematics, Science and Technology Education class visited BirLeblebiŞekeri Preschool and observed children during their science and mathematics activities. Founder of the school and science teacher Öznur Çeliköz shared her experiences about performing experiments with young children, how to keep their attention, provide safety and boost their interest in science. We appreciate Öznur Çeliköz for her time and useful sharings.
Students of “Introduction to Early Childhood Education” (ECE 201-ECEP101) course gather theoretical knowledge in “Children of the Digital Age” as well as practicing with coding robots like Cubetto and Bee-bot available in the TEDU Pedagogy Laboratory. During practices, students discussed about combining coding materials with various learning activities for different age groups in early childhood periods and how to support various developmental areas of children through coding with materials.
EGE 321 Art Education class welcomed Ebru Auf and Melih Özbek as guest speakers for Digital Art with Young Children lesson. Our guests provided an insight about use of digital art tools with children and our students had the opportunity to experience them during the lesson. The lesson was an evidence to how art and science are intervined. We appreciate Ebru Auf and Melih Özbek for their time and sharing with us.
TÜBİTAK 1003 Project entitled “MIGRA-MATH: Supporting Teachers of Immigrant Students with Respect to their Mathematics Education Professional Practices” by Assit. Prof. Dr. Mana Ece Tuna as principal investigator from Faculty of Education, Department of Educational Sciences Guidance and Psychological Counseling Program, continues in its second year.
